#TravelBookChat Foodie Special 28th January

When I launched #TravelBookChat on twitter last January it was because I couldn’t think of 2 greater things in life than travel and books and wanted to start a regular event that celebrated them. Several #TravelBookChats and a year later, it has been a pleasure to discover that many of you share these passions and have such good recommendations on how to ignite them.

For the first #TravelBookChat of 2014 we’re going to throw another of life’s great passions into the mix – this month’s theme is food!

Join us on Tuesday 28th January to talk about the books that leave your mouth watering. Whether Eat, Pray, Love had you packing your bags for Italy, or Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape inspired a culinary journey to India, we want to hear about your favourite foodie reads.

Introducing Intrepid

Intrepid Travel is our partner for this month’s event, and knows all about combining people’s passion for food and travel. Intrepid has been taking travellers off-the-beaten track to discover the world’s most amazing places for 25 years and last year launched a new range of food adventures which celebrate street food, local producers, home cooking, and regional specialties. There are eight new destinations being added to this range in 2014, including Peru, Sri Lanka and Italy. (Excuse me whilst I get lost in a fantasy of ceviche, tea and truffles.)

For more information on any of these tantalizing tours be sure to visit www.intrepidtravel.com/food.

Join Us

For those that have not taken part before the format is very simple (I promise!). Simply log onto to twitter at 7.30pm GMT on Tuesday 28th January and search for the hashtag #TravelBookChat. I’ll be tweeting a series of questions and comments for us to consider over a period of 30 – 45 minutes. I’ll label them Q1, Q2 etc. so please label your answers A1, A2 and include the hashtag #Travelbookchat so we can follow your answers. Feel free to respond to others answers, as well as mine, and let’s have a friendly foodie book debate!

Let’s Chat

If you have any questions about the above, or would like to submit a question for the book chat, please leave it in the comments section below or tweet me @jayneytravels. Follow Intrepid Travel on twitter @Intrepid_Travel for all sorts of travel and food themed treats.

I look forward to chatting with you all on the 28th January and finding the perfect tomes to inspire or accompany our next culinary adventures.

Question: Best meal ever presented in a book? My answer would be any of Hemingway’s simple meals that he made to sound extravagant. Amazing how tasty good writing can make bread, cheese and wine 🙂

But bread, cheese and wine IS tasty. That’s the only food I missed when traveling- literally only those three.
