While the seat, suspension and even the style have been improved, all the best features of the Jet - its light weight, ultra-compact fold and lie-flat seat - have remained the same. If we weren’t on lockdown I’d probably have a little fun getting you all to guess where we are in this picture because, honestly, I never knew my home town was this pretty. I’ve spent most of my adult life finding ways/means/excuses to get out of Berkshire but, while we’re limited to having purely local adventures, I’m finding all these beauty spots I’ve previously missed. While this park wasn’t new to me, the way it looks in Spring is. Not bad is it?! I’m throwing it all the way back to my gap year

I’m throwing it all the way back to my gap year today with this pic of a fresh faced me aged 22 at Machu Pichhu. (And yes that is an alpaca jumper I bought in Cuzco because that’s how much I like to embrace a travel cliche 🤣) Ever since these flashpacker days (my backpack was on wheels 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ ) I like to do ‘THE thing to do in xyz’ no matter how unprepared I am for it. So in Peru I hiked in terrible jumpers, in Brazil I got eaten alive by bugs in the Amazon Jungle, in New Zealand I bungee jumped, black and white water rafted (and nearly died, honestly), in Australia I ‘learned’ to surf (does it count if you don’t stand up?!) and in Fiji I stayed in a dorm with 100 other people on the ‘party island’ (for 1 night, it was terrible). The list could go on but you get the gist. I wouldn’t change these memories for the world though, even if most of them involve me feeling silly. (Side note: I hope anyone who had bucket list trips/ gap years planned for this year gets to make them a reality one day. 🙏) What travel cliches have you embraced in the past? Dear Greece, today I have been thinking about all the little ways I miss you. I’ve been salivating over baked feta & tzatziki, daydreaming about sipping a cold Mythos on the beach, and reminiscing about my holiday ritual of drinking a frappe every day at 3pm. I miss your hospitality, especially how you make our children feel welcome, and your dedication to the blue and white colour scheme. I long to hop around your islands, to explore ancient ruins, meander along cobbled streets and spend lazy days under sun loungers I scrabbled down rocks to get to. I promise I won’t forget that I can’t flush the loo paper. And I’ll never again complain about 2 single beds being pushed together to form a ‘double’. I know it’s been a difficult time for all of us and hope we can meet again (safely) soon . 1 whole year already since we said yes to an oppor

1 whole year already since we said yes to an opportunity to relocate to New York for 7 weeks while my husband worked on a project. Miles was 4 months old at the time and I was still googling ‘is it normal for babies to x,y,z’ on a daily basis. But luckily my anxiety about being a clueless parenting newbie was far outweighed by my desire to be a pretend New Yorker for a few weeks. So off we went and had an incredible number of firsts for our family, especially for me who was an experienced traveller but new mummy. While Justin was at the office, Miles and I marched all over NYC. I strapped him on my front to grab groceries, carried his buggy onto the subway, wheeled him into cool cafes, munched our way around food markets, fed/changed/played with him in parks and squares across the city and generally learned that all the things you fret about travelling with a baby come true very rarely. We also spent a lot of time on our apartment’s cosy settee, getting to know each other, being silly and watching trash TV (the last 2 were mostly me 🤣). So, while it was an incredible trip, it’s the little moments like this that I treasure as much as all the places we got to see. ⠀

Before I became a blogger I was a bookworm. I was the kid who loaned the maximum number of books from the library and took all 7kgs of them on holiday with me. I’d become obsessed with particular writers, bingeing their whole back catalogues in weeks and it’s only now, while all travel is temporarily cancelled, that I’m remembering this old me. In the gaps that have opened up now I’m no longer travelling, or planning to be travelling, or blogging about when I was travelling, I’ve become reacquainted with reading. I’ve read 8 books since lockdown started (a new mum record I think!) and I’m showing no signs of slowing. So I guess one of the good things this scary, uncertain situation has given me is a reminder that I do have other passions, and luckily they can be reignited while staying in. Have you rediscovered an old passion during lockdown? ⠀

Hello everyone, I’m not sure how long some of yo

Hello everyone, I’m not sure how long some of you have been around here so I thought I might do a little ‘getting to know me’ update.
So I’m Jayne, I’m 35 years old and live in the UK. I’ve been blogging for 11 years and it’s been my main job for the last 7. My first job after uni was as an events manager. The company I worked for arranged international conferences and I ran events in Estonia, Lithuania, South Africa, China and more. It was during this time I started travel blogging for a hobby and 2 years later it became my career when I was hired by a travel company to manage their blog and social media channels.
In 2012, I went freelance and did a mix of freelance writing, social media management, and consulting, all the time travelling as much as I could and blogging about for my own website. I won some awards during this period from the likes of the British Travel Press and Cosmo Magazine - there was less competition back then 🤪

In 2014, I moved to Australia (with my Aussie husband who was my boyfriend at the time but we got hitched in Thailand in 2017) and pretty much had to start my freelance career again. During this time, I set my blog up to earn passive income through advertising and affiliate sales and embraced the opportunity to travel all over Australia and Asia. (I had a little love affair with Japan. Someone there must have loved my work as I got invited on 3 projects back to back for various tourism boards and couldn’t believe my luck.) Throughout the last decade I’ve been so lucky to experience a mixture of press trips, paid campaigns and personal travels - some solo, some with colleagues and now with my small family. I always dreamed of being paid to travel as a kid and still find it surreal that essentially writing an online diary created that for me.
In 2018, we moved back to the UK to have our son Miles, so named after the 30k of them he did in my belly. (I’m in Finland during my 1st trimester of pregnancy here.) In Miles’ first year we moved to New York for 7 weeks for my husband’s work and took him to Melbourne to meet his Aussie side of the family. (Continued in comments)
