Best At Home Workout: Yoga With Adriene

Adriene doesn’t know it but we’ve pretty much been besties since 2014. I spend most mornings with her Texas twang, coaxing me into ever bendier shapes and making me laugh along the way. Yoga With Adriene is the only YouTube channel I regularly tune into, and since having a baby, it’s the only regular exercise I get too.

I’ve dabbled with a lot of at home workouts throughout the years and Yoga With Adriene is the one that’s gone the longest distance. If you’re looking to add a regular yoga practise into your daily routine, here’s why choose to get bendy with Yoga With Adriene .different

Why I love Yoga With Adriene

Yoga for busy people

Adriene’s channel is full to the brim with yoga tutorials that will make you want to get on the mat. Whatever fitness level you are at or ailment you are looking to cure, Adriene has a yoga video for you.

She has a whole series of beginner workouts that got me into yoga back in 2014, as well as various sequences for healing and learning the foundations of yoga that I regularly dip into.

If you’re just getting started her 30 day challenges are a great way to get used to a regular practise while slowly building your strength up.

But one of the best features (for busy mums like me or just busy people in general) is that she has whole lists full of yoga practises divided by duration. So you can find the right tutorial for the exact amount of time you have spare – even if it’s only 15 minutes while the baby is napping!

An awesome instructor

As soon as Adriene’s sunlit studio (and cuddly dog Benji) comes onto my screen I feel more positive about the day.

Each video is injected with Adriene’s personality and humour – she is a professional actress and comes across really warm on screen. Her video intros and wrap-ups make you feel like you want to hang out with the girl in the crazy glasses, whether she is a good yoga teacher or not.

Luckily for us she is a fantastic instructor – clear and encouraging, helping you find what works for you and not intimidating users by taking things too far too soon.

Yoga for travel

I particularly love that Adriene takes her yoga on the road and shows us that we can do the same.

Her Travel Yoga routines are shot in stunning locations, like lakeside in Seattle and Washington State (watch out for the seal who makes a special appearance at this end of this one!) and include sequences and stretches that are perfect for unravelling knots in travel-weary bodies.

(Hello much needed Booty Stretch after a long-haul flight!)

I have watched many yoga tutorials on YouTube in the hope of finding a routine I could stick to but have found none that make me want to roll out my mat as much as Adriene.

Since launching her channel in 2012 she’s garnered a huge and loyal fan base. I count myself among them.

A few of my favourite Yoga With Adriene routines are:

Yoga For Complete Beginners – a 20 min practise to ease you in.

Meditation for beginners

Yoga for anxiety & stress

Freedom Flow – shot in Austin Texas where it’s “hotter than a witches cauldron”. Features a watermelon..

Yoga For Healthy Wrists – a quirky 4 minute routine that’s been shot like a silent black & white movie. Perfect for writers.

Yoga For Digestion – not just for the holidays!

  1. Hi Jayne,
This is fantastic. I picked up Hatha Yoga once again last week, after a ten year break from Kundalini and my daughter is learning acroyoga whilst in Thailand. The movement seems to be on the move again!
Just looking for a sun salutation video to start the day with so will check out Adriene’s site!

    • Adriene’s morning routines are very relaxed but if you like Hatha you may like to try the flow routine I referred to in the post. Enjoy šŸ™‚

    2. Yoga makes me HAPPY!

I’ve been Youtubing along to Psyche Trust, but will take a look at Adriene tomorrow morning for a switcheroo. Thanks for the tip šŸ™‚

  3. OMG you practice yoga with Adrienne’s videos? I love her and her yoga sessions and I am surprised you know her too. I am so glad you find time to include yoga in your travel routine. I have a question: did you practice yoga before or was Adrienne the reason you started?

    • I’ve always tried to incorporate Yoga on my travels but it depended on me finding an accessible class. I tried lots of different youtube routines but never found any I loved until discovering Adriene a few months ago. I love what she does and couldn’t be more grateful for the free videos!

  6. I LOVE Yoga with Adriene! I first came across her beginner series about a year ago. As a yoga beginner I love her routines and find I easily connect with her. My problem is consistency. Every time I do a video my body feels so good and I am so in love with Yoga. So why can I not bring myself to find time to do it everyday??? Ugh! šŸ™‚

  7. I’ve never been a yoga fan, but I changed my mind earlier this year when I first attended a yoga class.
Now there’s no opportunity to do yoga with an instructor and I’m looking for a video on youtube. Your recommendation seems great to me. It’s strange that I haven’t heard about Adriene before.
